Africa, My Home, My Future

News from II ALL Africa Youth Congress, Nairobi, Kenya 31 October – 5 November, 2025

The All-Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) hosted its second Youth Congress from the 31st October to the 5th November 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya under the theme: “Africa, My home My Future”, a reminder that young people hold the responsibly to make the grass greener where they are.

This was a historic moment as TEM was also launched in the very same venue.

The Congress focused on the following discussion themes:

  • Ethical Leadership and Eco-Stewardship
  • Peace and security
  • Human dignity and Socio-economic Justice
  • Active Citizenship and Pan-Africanism

These themes aligned well with the TEM life and work. Part of my contribution to this congress was to mobilise young people in Africa to join the Transformative Ecumenism Movement (TEM).

I appeared in front of the Congress delegates with a t-shirt symbolising the common lived experiences and struggles of young people in Africa, giving a broader overview of TEM and invited passionate young people leading grass roots ecumenical movements to join the Transformative Ecumenism Movement.

Over 50 young people signed the t-shirt as a commitment to join the collective efforts to responding to the pressing issues of our time for a healed and transformed Africa.

Following the presentation, the learning was that there’s still a lot that needs to be done to collaborate and support grass roots youth led ecumenism movements that advances the mission of God particularly in Africa. The space was a good opportunity but the time was limited and more engagements are needed to embed the methodology of TEM.
