SUMMARY:Latin American Course on Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue 2026 Transformative Ecumenism and the Struggle for Land: Challenges and Horizons July 1–15\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 37th Latin American Course on Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue focuses on “Transformative Ecumenism and the Struggle for Land.” At a time of environmental crisis and threats to Indigenous and marginalized communities\, the course invites participants to reflect and act in solidarity with those defending their territories and dignity. \nRooted in Latin America’s tradition of linking faith with justice\, growing from from the lived experiences of communities and views land as sacred\, “Transformative ecumenism” goes beyond institutional dialogue and calls for shared responsibility for the Earth—our Common Home. \nOver fifteen days\, the course brings together popular movements\, faith communities\, and academic partners through dialogue\, spiritual practices\, and community visits. Offered by CESEEP\, in partnership with the Lutheran School of Theology (Faculdades EST)\, it bridges theological reflection with social action. \nThe Ecumenical Centre for Services to Evangelisation and Popular Education (CESEEP)\, founded in 1982 in São Paulo\, is a Brazilian faith-based organization that promotes learning\, dialogue\, and collective action inspired by Liberation Theology and Popular Education. Working with churches\, social movements\, and grassroots communities across Latin America\, CESEEP supports justice\, peace\, and the defense of life. \nIts goal is to cultivate an ecumenism grounded in real life—one that responds to the cry of the Earth and the poor\, and strengthens networks of solidarity for the fullness of life.
